Thesis on the KJV 1611 (Bro. Willard
Thomas) Never having any doubt about
the 1611 KJV version of the Bible, I have never looked at another version or
even considered comparing my Bible with another version. So I would like to
write about the old reliable 1611 KJV.
1. THE AUTHENTICITY OF THE BIBLE (1611 KJV)
I believe that I hold in my hand and preach
from the pure words of God. It matters little to me what Christian educators in
Christian colleges and seminaries believe. They have always denied the Word of
God. It is sad indeed that a generation of preachers goes out into the highways
and hedges of America and into our churches and denies the word of God. I
believe that fifty-four godly men worked seven years to give us the Bible we
have today from the original Greek text. I believe that the translation was a
direct act of God at the exact time God chose to do it. I further believe that
they did not subtract from the true text, or add new words (except noted). I
believe they considered the severity of God and did not desire knowledge to be
above or equal with God. The Word of God is the book of the ages. It is as old
as time, but as new as tomorrow. It is eternal in its composition. It is
inerrant in its contents. It is impeccable in its character. It's the Word of
God. Amen!
2. THE AUTHORITY OF THE BIBLE.
I believe the KJV 1611 Bible is the final
authority in all matters. The Bible should be the final authority of our
churches, for our homes, for our schools, and for the social order of our
government. Nations have risen and fallen that deny the Word of God. (Psalms
33:12). Oh that God would give us some men in our government, not with hot heads
and cold hearts, but with warm hearts and cool heads. I would to God that we
could be like the colonies that first came to America to break the veil of
religious opposition from England, as the muddy waters of the revolution swept
through our forefathers they cried, "No book but the Bible, No king but Jesus."
Whether we accept it or not, God's Word is the final authority. Centuries have
come and gone, empires have risen and fallen, Monarchs have conquered and have
been conquered, kings have been enthroned and dethroned, civilizations have come
and collapsed, tyrants have reigned and been overthrown, critics have spoken and
been silenced, but the Bible still stands!! In the final wind up of the history
of man, one undeniable fact still remains; Heaven and earth shall pass away, but
my words shall not pass away! (Matthew 24:35)
3. ACCESS TO THE BIBLE
The scripture is ours to study (2 Timothy
2:15)
1. Studying the Word of God carries the
approval of God.
2. Studying the Word of God gives us assurance to serve.
3. Studying the Word of God gives us the ability to rightly divide the Word.
The Word of God makes us wise unto salvation.
(2 Timothy 3:15). All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and we have
access to the mind and heart of God through his word. We have access to all the
great doctrines of God through His Word. We are able to help our brethren by
reproof or correction through the Word of God. The Word of God will instruct us
in righteousness and in living clean, pure and holy lives. There is no way for
the man of God to be perfect and thoroughly furnished unto all good works
without the Word of God. In the English version of the Word of God we have
access to:
1. 5 books of the Pentateuch
2. 12 books of history
3. 5 books of poetry
4. 17 books of prophecy (5 major, 12 minor)
We have access to the beginning and
culmination of all history of the world. We have the revealed mind of God. We
have the history of His Son. We have the acts of the Holy Ghost. We see the rise
and final rapture of the church.
4. ATTACKS ON THE BIBLE
In my opinion, I believe that last great
attack by Satan will be on the Word of God. Since WWII we have seen attacks on
our society, our schools, our homes, our government; even our churches were not
exempt from the onslaughts of Hell. In these final days, Satan has mounted an
all out attack on the Word of God. In my youth, there was no other Bible used or
even talked about but the KJV 1611, but with the movement of the apostasy into
our churches, men turned to heathen vocabulary and new versions of the Bible to
satisfy the carnal apostate religious world.
The ecumenical movement of today along with
the revised principles has caused Christians to accept philosophy, tradition and
science over the Scripture. They corrupt the text of the Bible by marginal
notes, footnotes, correcting or omitting the text and putting a revision on it,
or correcting the text without any explanation at all. We need men and churches
that will stand with apology for the Word of God. I refused to be intimidated;
put off, put down, or made to be ashamed of being an old fashioned Bible (KJV
1611) preacher. As the multitude of scholars fall by the wayside, the Word of
God will still be standing like the rock of Gibraltar.
5. THE ARTISTIC BALANCE OF THE BIBLE
To know that God has always had his word in
the common language of the people is comforting to God's people and a puzzle to
unbelievers. English has the largest vocabulary of any language that ever
existed. God in His infinite wisdom gave us the pure Word of God from seven
different languages into the most widely used language in the world, English.
The seven sources of scripture are:
1. Hebrew
2. Arabic
3. Greek
4. Seariac
5. Old Latin
6. German
7. English
The seven languages were the forerunner, or
predecessor of the seven translations of the English Bible. They were:
1. Wycliff
2. Tyndale
3. Coverdale
4. Great Bible
5. Geneva Bible
6. Bishop's Bible
7. KJV 1611
It is amazing that there were no English
dictionaries until 1771, and yet we have the Word of God in the most common of
all languages, English. All great literature, yea, all great books of the past
stem from the Word of God. That the apostle Paul would give us books both
artistically and grammatically balanced is indeed a miracle of God.
7. THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE BIBLE
The Word of God remains the best seller of all
books of all times. I know we live in a day of rank apostasy, and there are many
Bible deniers actively involved in our churches. Most of the educational systems
of the world, even religious, deny the 1611 KJV Bible. I think one of the main
things that appeal to Bible believers is that the 1611 KJV has never been
copyrighted, thus proving that the original translators were not out for gain,
but to promote God's word to the masses. I for one believe that our good country
of America is still filled with good God fearing, Bible believing, Clean living,
Mission supporting, Local independent Baptist Churches. We support and teach our
preacher boys to handle the real Word of God. Any preacher going out from our
church will have a good grasp on the Bible, pastoral authority, old-fashioned
worship, and love for sinners and support of the local church. I believe they
have been trained to accept only the KJV 1611, and to reject, yea not even be
associated with anything else. We are in complete agreement, and accept your
study, and historical accuracy of the Bible. |
